A few months ago, I asked if Indy could be the next Silicon Valley. In a recent post on Data Center Knowledge it seems a number of Midwest cities are competing for that title with a growing number of data centers.
Why the growing popularity of these Midwest centers? The author cites a number of factors including affordability of the Midwest in housing mission-critical facilities, lower operating costs, particularly cheep electricity.
In addition, I believe the emerging Informatics programs at many Midwest universities, including IU, Purdue and IUPUI, create an expanding pool of qualified employees.
